The emerald waters of the Palar torrent

The Palar torrent lies just over half an hour from Udine and a few km from the Lago di Cavazzo.. For lovers of nature and swimming in the fresh and clear waters of rivers, this is the perfect choice to spend a day of relaxation and refreshment, escaping sultry summer days. Getting there is simple: just follow the path that starts from the centre of the village of Alesso, a few steps from the church and from there walk into the woods. Just before the bridge crossed by the stream, there is also a large parking area where you can leave your car. The first stretch of the Rio Palar is certainly the most visited and easy to reach, where the waters are not very deep. For those looking for adventure, there is the opportunity to choose between different pools reached by clambering between the rocks and wading the river in the most accessible points. The water level of the Rio Palar is not always the same, as it depends on the rainfall and varies during the season, but the presence of waterfalls makes it suitable for most of the summer. There are no less than three and of different heights, but the one located the furthest upstream is definitely a thrill! Climb up to reach it; it is worth it, because from the height of its 10 metres and more, you can enjoy fantastic dives in an emerald pool, where the water level is normally never less than five metres. As a backdrop to this torrent, there is the typical environment of the Julian foothills, with pebbles and white rocks and a spontaneous vegetation rich in acacias, ash trees, manna trees and willows. The Rio Palar is a popular and very popular summer destination, not only for its crystal clear waters, but also because it is a great alternative to beaches and the traffic of the seaside resorts.
