Fragments of colour

Mosaic School of Spilimbergo: what is a mosaic? They are fragments cut and chosen by the hand of someone who experiments and listens to the matter and the colour. They are creative ideas, images that originate from ancient myths but also screen characters. What is the boundary of a mosaic or the experience of being in a place where everything around breathes art excellence? ? Yes, because the classrooms, hallways, coffee room and even the bathrooms are decorated in mosaics: this reminds me that because of the beauty of colours every place can be artistic. Don’t call them just mosaics: in the fragments, there is a philosophy of life. The matter had to break to become a unique and irreplaceable piece in a wider vision. Aren’t we just the same? A group of fragments that make us unique.
Admiring Guernica outside in the courtyard you can make out certain colours as a vision of the whole. If you get closer though you can find colours that you didn’t expect not being an artist, you would never have thought were there. And yet there appears a piece of bright red. That reminds me that to experience the mosaic that we are, we have to find the time to take a profound close up look at ourselves. Attention and care of details. An authentic flagship of the city of Spilimbergo and Friuli Venezia Giulia, a visit to this mosaic gallery is a journey to discover the art of mosaic outside, but also within us.
