Campolongo Tapogliano

In the territory of Campolongo - Tapogliano there are some private and public Villas with so fascinating architecture that are worth a visit: in Campolongo al Torre Villa Marcotti Chiozza, in Cavenzano Villa Antonini-Brunner- Krcivoy and Villa Rustici Squarcial and in Tapogliano Villa Pace. The beauty of their architecture can be appreciated also only with an outside visit.

The name "Campolongo" is for the first time mentioned in a document dated 1327, when the area inhabited by farmers ("massari"), was subject to the Patriarchate.
From 1420 to 1797 the area underwent the domain of the Republic of Venice; the territory was later annexed to the Reign of Italy, and then assigned to the Asburgic Empire.
During the Third Independence War several fights occurred between Austrian armies and the troops of the Reign of Italy; as Austria was the undiscussed winner, the annexation to Italy took place only after the World War I.

The date of Tapogliano's foundation should be around 181 BC, exactly the same of Aquileia.
In 1420 it fell under the dominion of the Republic of Venetia but not even a century later, in 1509, the Archduke of Austria seized it together with the whole territory of Aquileia.
In 1797 Tapogliano was nominated by the Habsburg Empire "Comune" gaining more autonomy.
After World War I, in 1928, the fascist regime abolished it, which was included to that of Campolongo al Torre.
When the Italian Republic was established, Tapogliano was again recognized as local authority (1947).

Since 2009 the two localities form the municipality of Campolongo Tapogliano.
