et ready for a journey through time and space, along the roads of the world and history, discovering distant, ancient lands filled with mystery.
In the 2025 edition of Medioevo a Valvasone, the village opens up to new horizons, transforming into a crossroads of cultures and distant worlds. The theme of the year, “Orientis Partibus”, is inspired by a famous medieval song announcing the arrival of a donkey from the East, a symbol of humility, labor, and dignity.
But behind this simple image lies an extraordinary tale: that of the Franciscan Fra Giovanni da Pian di Carpine, one of the first Europeans to reach the court of the Khan in the 13th century. Sent by Pope Innocent IV as a messenger of peace, he crossed Central Asia and left a valuable account of his journey in the Historia Mongalorum.
With this theme, Medioevo a Valvasone 2025 celebrates the encounter between East and West: two worlds that brush against each other, observe one another, and learn to understand each other. In a Jubilee year, the message becomes even stronger and more relevant: only through knowledge and dialogue can we break down the barriers of fear.
The 33rd edition of Medioevo a Valvasone begins on September 4th with an extraordinary event, an evening dedicated to fire, symbol of passion and light.
On September 5th, sit at the Count’s table and take part in his luxurious Medieval Banquet: six medieval courses, in the candlelit atmosphere of the ancient Convent, accompanied by medieval art performances, where you will enjoy a dinner fit for a true medieval noble. To book a seat
