Sorj Chalandon, one of the most original voices in contemporary French literature, will be the protagonist of the 32nd edition of the Dedica Festival, taking place in Pordenone from 14 to 21 March 2026. Organized by the Thesis cultural association and supported by public institutions and private partners, the festival is considered a major event in the Italian cultural landscape.
A war reporter and award-winning novelist, Chalandon structures his work around memory, betrayal, and fatherhood, crafting intense narratives that blend personal stories with collective tragedies through a sharp and powerful style. As artistic director Claudio Cattaruzza explains, the author transforms real or autobiographical elements into literature by creating fictional characters and situations that give rise to compelling and powerful stories, addressing difficult themes with sensitivity and a sense of hope.
The festival will dedicate a full week to meetings, performances, exhibitions, and conversations exploring the writer’s life and work. A monograph, Dedica a Sorj Chalandon, curated by Andrea Tarabbia, will also be published, and Tarabbia will join Chalandon on stage at the Teatro Verdi for the festival’s opening event.
