Collio: Cycling among the hills and vineyards in Italy and Slovenia

Cycling up and down the hills through the vineyards of the Collio, a border area that we are lucky enough to explore today in complete freedom, as if there were no real border.

In the province of Gorizia, there are many cycle paths, which often meet, sometimes crossing the border with Slovenia and then returning to Italy, concluding ring routes where two different languages are spoken and which are wonderfully appreciated for their similar landscapes. For example, the BIMOBIS cycle route or the SLOW COLLIO cycle route, GPX map.

Immersed in greenery, we cycle through an area where we can find not only good wine but also olive groves and cherries in the right season.
There are differences in height for all legs and those who want to enjoy the scenery without tiring too much can rent an e-bike; just like Mircea and myself today, hiring a couple in the centre of Cormons. From here we can choose different routes that go in various directions. Routes along secondary roads with little traffic and stretches of cycle path.
The tourist office in Cormons can give us the best advice.

It's time for lunch and even with an e-bike you can use up energy. How can you regain energy around here? It is the right opportunity to taste D’Osvaldo ham with an excellent glass of wine from the Collio area.

While sipping and eating breadsticks you can plan your next cycling route.
