Food & wine
Collio (Brda in the Slovenian language) is an area divided by the border between Italy and Slovenia where renowned white wines are produced: from Ribolla gialla from Oslavia to Malvasia and Collio Bianco to be paired with cheeses and cold cuts or with typical dishes. Cyclists will be able to taste a cuisine born from the union of different gastronomic cultures: Italian, Slovenian and Austrian.
Itinerary
The route passes through small rural villages, small lakes and places with breathtaking panoramic views. It is a pleasant tour among the vine-covered hills where it is pleasant to stop in the "Windows of Collio and Brda" or take a break on the "Orange Benches of Oslavia" . The route starts in Gorizia and passes through San Floriano del Collio, Oslavia, Cormons and Capriva del Friuli and should be "tasted" slowly. Some sections of the route are embellished in spring with the blossoming of cherry trees.
Author’s recommendation
For those who wish, the route passes by the botanical forest of Plessiva where they can stop. In Cormons it is possible to take the train back to Gorizia.
