Cycling route among the vineyards where the renowned DOC Collio and Slovenian Brda wines are produced for an immersion in the wine culture of this European region
Itinerary
The route crosses small rural villages, ponds, and places with breathtaking panoramic views. It is a pleasant ride among the vine-covered hills where it is enjoyable to stop at the "Windows of Collio and Brda" or take a break on the "Orange Benches of Oslavia". The route starts in Gorizia and passes through San Floriano del Collio, Oslavia, Cormons, and Capriva del Friuli and should be "tasted" slowly. Some parts of the route are beautified in spring by the blossoming of cherry trees.
Food & wine
Collio (Brda in Slovenian) is a territory divided by the border between Italy and Slovenia where renowned white wines are produced: from the Ribolla gialla of Oslavia to Malvasia and Collio White, to be paired with cheeses and cold cuts or typical dishes. Cyclists can taste a cuisine born from the union of different gastronomic cultures: Italian, Slovenian, and Austrian.
The route can be completed in 2 days and can also include the Gorizia - Nova Gorica loop route.
