A unique bike ride steeped in Aquileia's history along the bike path that skirts the remains of the ancient Roman colony, a UNESCO site.
Itinerary
The route uses part of the bicycle path that is abandoned to continue into the Aquileian countryside, which was cultivated as early as Roman times. It crosses several bridges over canals, the agricultural locality of Boscat, until it reaches Belvedere, where a small patch of the forest that covered a large area in ancient times remains. In this section the route skirts the lagoon of Grado and the Sanctuary on the island of Barbana, dominates the view. It returns again to Aquileia.
Food & wine
Discovering Aquileia, one of the cradles of regional viticulture, where history, land and wines mingle with the souls of our producers who carry on a thousand-year-old tradition! Among the whites, Friulano and Malvasia stand out, while among the reds, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso seems to boast ancient origins linked to the Roman Empire.
RECOMMENDED DISHES: Sausages such as salami or pork and game meat
During the summer season it is possible to travel part of the loop from GRADO or AQUILEIA by sea transport. For more information: https://www.aptgorizia.it/servizio-marittimo/
