Trench Line" Vordere Saisera"

The first part of the green ring follows what was the first Austro-Hungarian line, the so-called "Vordere Saisera". Here the soldiers built wooden trenches, with soil and intertwined branches and they were provided with metal shields for the protection of the shooters. Around them, kilometres of fences were placed to prevent the enemy assault. Moreover, as can still be seen today numerous shelters were created among the erratically located boulders present along the itinerary.

From this area, the attack of October 18, 1915 was launched that was meant to conquer the Italian lines of the Jôf di SomdognaSella di Somdogna and Jôf di Miezegnot to gain access to the Val Dogna. The attack failed so the lines remained unchanged until the end of October 1917.
