Gorizia: a city of surprises

I decide to spend a morning in Gorizia.
At the Infopoint in Corso Italia, they give me a lot of information and a map full of notes. And so I start my visit from the Covered Market, where a massive wrought iron gate placed in front of the Art Nouveau construction takes me back to a distant era.
You can hear chatting among the fresh products (fruits, vegetables, flowers) placed elegantly on the market stalls.
I manage to take a picture of a part of that rainbow of colours before I walk towards the onion-shaped bell tower of the baroque Church of Sant’Ignazio. From here, I go towards the road that I consider the most beautiful in Gorizia: Via Rastello. Here ancient merchant and artisan shops used to stand: some âgé shops can still be admired today (unfortunately closed) witness of times gone by.
At the end of the walk, my last destination: the Duomo. Its external façade does not give away its internal splendour at all. I am greeted by beautiful white stucco decorations that give harmony and movement to the wooden furnishings and dark marble columns.
I have walked past these buildings several times, yet I was not aware of the elegant beauty they enclose: these are the surprises that Gorizia knows how to offer.

Various friends, who know about my passion, have suggested many times that I should work in the field of tourism.
Well, after so many years I still do not work in the sector, but the curiosity to discover new landscapes, new activities and talents of our region remains, and I am ready to share my stories.
