Pordenone, the painted city

Pordenone is my city. I often happily walk around the elegant old town, but always absent-mindedly, without properly admiring its buildings and its frescoed facades that always fascinate me.

Moved by curiosity, one day I went to the Infopoint of PromoTurismoFVG in the beautiful Palazzo Badini and, equipped with audio guide and map, I followed the suggested itinerary that everyone is free to explore at their own pace.

Thus it was that I finally understood why Pordenone is called “The painted city”: there are authentic open-air works of art along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, marked by a Venetian imprint, as is also the bell tower of the cathedral of San Marco, which is considered one of the most beautiful in northern Italy. Inside the Duomo itself, you can admire works and frescoes by the greatest painter of the Friulian Renaissance, Giovanni Antonio De Sacchis, called “Il Pordenone”.

But I do not want to reveal too many things, but merely invite you to admire these works of art like me as you walk around the city, perhaps with the audio guide that describes them inside the Cathedral and the church of Del Cristo.
