Ethnographic museum in Malborghetto

The Ethnographic Museum is located in the Venetian Palace of Malborghetto, 12 km. from Tarvisio, in an elegant 17th-century palace being one of the most interesting of the Val Canale (Canale Valley) in terms of historical and architectural heritage.

The exhibition, divided into sections, is dedicated to Val Canale in its differentiated ethnographical aspects and also includes a section on geology and prehistoric times. It offers a considerable space dedicated to the economy of the territory and, in particular, to the mining practices in the Raibl mines along with the typical entrepreneurial activities of this area this between the 19th and early 20th century. The traditions and rituals linked with the Christmas and Easter holidays, including those of the famous krampus, engage the newest museum pavilion. Special sections are also dedicated to the Tarvisio Forest and to the history of the same Venetian Palace that houses the museum.
