Fortifications of Vallo Littorio
Works of fortification into tunnels (military engineering) are an integral part of this defensive complex built in Carnia during the Second World War.
The fortifications of Vallo Littorio are equipped with two active entrances, 5-6 concrete casemate used for machine guns, as well as depository bunkers for everything necessary for the fort's active operation.
The main part of the fort's development is linear, dug out of the rocks of the territory's mountains. The fortifications of Vallo Littorio are divided into three floors with a maximum drop of 30 metres.
The vertical connecting corridors are created using circular wells designed to incorporate spiral staircases. These cavern works are included in the fantastic Intercommunity Park of the Carnic Hills environment.
