Pocenia

The name derives from Pocenia "Pulcinis" Slavic term of uncertain meaning.

The first settlement was built as a fishing village on the banks of the Stella.

In the area of Stroppagallo came to light remains on a path that they presuppose the existence of a road which in Roman times conjoined Aquileia, Cividale through Pocenia.
Along this path there must have been stately homes, as were also found coins of Caesar Augustus and a few pitchers.

A Pocenia of considerable architectural interest is the Carattiri villa, built in the seventeenth century and consists of several buildings: the main building, barn, greenhouse and cottages, all surrounded by a large park, the territories that bordered on the park had the same hunting grounds of the Savoy.

Then there's Villa Veriti, also characterized by barn and stables connected with that mark the southern boundary of the village.

You can also visit the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata, dating back to 1600 and is the circular feature - unique - and the niche square that serves as a sanctuary and bell tower.
