Pavia di Udine
The toponym Pavia di Udine probably derives from 'papia', a Latin word meaning 'horse chestnut'.
Many villas are present in the territory. Villa Lovaria in Pavia, dating back to the seventeenth century, was built following the Palladian architectural model.
In the close hamlet of Lauzacco you will find Villa Beretta, built in the eighteenth century, with a raised central body and two barchesse (outhouses).
Going on towards Risano, you will reach Villa Agricola, immersed in a wonderful park.
The hamlet of Percoto is famous for the presence of one of Italy's most renowned distilleries.
Every year Pavia di Udine (end of August-beginning of September) stages the Sagra dei Pirus (Pear Festival), which proposes, among various attractions, great concerts.
