Monument to the Carinthian volunteers

The monument to the Carinthian volunteers who fell during the Great War is located on the summit of Mt. Frauenhügel, on the rocky promontory behind the Austrian cabin. Given its size, it can be already seen from the Volaia Pass in Italy.

It is a large square tower, built in stone, with a pyramidal base with steps. It looks quite austere and devoid of decorations, except for a small sculpture in wrought iron representing two Alpine hats, a rope, an ice pick and a mountain gun. A small plaque in German language commemorates the Carinthian volunteers. You can read the following words engraved in Gothic style on it: "1914 Weltkrieg 1918 Dank und Ehre den Gefallenen" (1914 World War 1918 Gratitude and honour to the fallen soldiers).
