Before arriving at the Lambertenghi-Romanin cabin, you can see the first remains of the Great War. On your left lie the ruins of some military buildings built by the Italian Alpine Corps in the summer of 1915, following the fortifications on the Volaia Pass.
Specifically, they are the perimeter walls of several barracks, some of which have remained almost intact as they were protected by the ridge of the small promontory against the Austro-Hungarian bombs. Walking uphill on a track starting on your left at the fork between CAI trail No. 144 and Spinotti trail, you can observe the buildings and their horseshoe arrangement from atop.
Further on, at a fresh water stream, you can see a small tunnel and the remains of a partly-collapsed military post. They were located halfway between the Alpine war village and the entrenched line located on the Volaia Pass.
