Brooklyn-based saxophonist and composer Tobias Meinhart, named by Jazz Thing Magazine as Germany's most talented saxophonist, is a leading figure in the contemporary jazz scene. Named a "Rising Star" in the DownBeat Critics Poll, Meinhart has built an international career rooted in musical storytelling, with performances at iconic venues such as the Blue Note, Smalls, and Birdland, and appearances at major festivals such as Winter Jazzfest (New York), Jarasum Jazz Festival (South Korea), and the Mexico City Jazz Festival. His latest album, Sonic River, is a deeply immersive work, shaped by literary influences and the rhythmic energy of New York City. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Matt Pierson, the album showcases Meinhart's expressive and lyrical sound alongside a world-class ensemble: pianist Eden Ladin (Avishai Cohen, Terence Blanchard), bassist Matt Penman (SFJAZZ Collective, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, John Scofield, Wayne Shorter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Douglas, Nicholas Payton, Fred Hersch, Madeleine Peyroux), and drummer Mark Whitfield Jr. (Kenny Garrett, Sean Jones, Terence Blanchard). The trio brings precision and passion to Meinhart's compositions, creating a cinematic, groovy, and emotionally engaging sound. This quartet, Meinhart's signature group for the past several years, has lit up stages in New York and beyond.
