"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important…" (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, "The Little Prince")
The
Galvani Park Rose Garden "Museo Itinerario della Rosa Antica" (MIRA - Itinerary Museum of Ancient Roses) was born in the homonymous park of
Pordenone in November of 2010 with the aim of upgrading the area of the lake and provide the new building of the
PARCO "Armando Pizzinato" Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Pordenone with a suitable setting.
The other aim of the rose garden is to transmit the
love for roses and rose growing to a large public creating a collaboration between the visitors of PARCO and of the rose garden.
Around the pond of the Galvani Park stretches a
historical-educational path on Ancient Roses, a "walk" surrounded by ancient roses which will give you the opportunity to recognize their characteristics, learning their history and botanical links.
You will have the chance to see
185 varieties of roses belonging to
about 40 different species in the
766 rose bushes and to admire
586 ornamental Gramineae belonging to
19 varieties and species.
A family tree for each rose
Every rose provides the size and position of the site and the description of the phylogenetic tree of the genus Rosa to satisfy all your curiosities.
