Educational trail of the Bosco Flobia

Educational trail of the Bosco Flobia

A nature trail inside the Forest of Ampezzo wants the visitor to discover the secrets, the background and all the work that is behind Forest management.

An educational trail within everyone’s reach, also for visitors with visual disabilities. The municipality of Ampezzo, in collaboration with the Regional Forest Directorate, created the route using the existing forest roads and equipped it with wooden bulletin boards positioned at various points along the track.

There are nine panels all with a different forest theme. In the right part of the information board there is a tactile section with educational contents related to the section. To the right of the track a wooden fence gives guidance to the disabled.

Along the nine nature experience stations, the main aspects that characterize and regulate the life of the forest ecosystem are explained, illustrating how man seeks a way to reconcile its activities with the delicate and complex balance of the natural environment.

The topics covered are, in addition to a brief initial introduction, the environment, fauna, vegetation, ecosystem, history, forestry, forest uses, technology and natural adversities.

Difficulty : accessible to all
Guidance: fence along the entire route
Difference in altitude: 130 m

Itinerary
The route, which winds through one of the most beautiful forests in the region, has a total length of 3.5 km, with a maximum altitude difference of 130 m. The start and finish of the path is located near the Tita Piaz Refuge. The route follows for a small part the existing forest roads and for the remaining enters the Bosco Flobia, characterized by the presence of precious resonance wood, used for the construction of string musical instruments.
The average walking time of the entire fenced route, is about two hours, but there is the possibility of early return halfway.

NATURE TRAIL
The path was created by the forest department of Tolmezzo, in collaboration with the Italian union of blind and partially sighted people. The aim of this project is to raise awareness of the mountain environment.
At the beginning of the trail a touch screen computer allows you to "navigate virtually" inside the forest, assuming the interesting information for the excursion.
Along the three kilometres path, there are 10 information points containing explanations and drawings about the environment and how man can be part of it, respecting it. The route is also accessible to visually impaired people thanks to the use of audioguides and braille script about the surrounding environment.
