The open-air Museum of the defensive compound of the Sinkhole of the 15th Marksmen Regiment was inaugurated in 2000 and is located in the area of Mt. Sei Busi, near the Redipuglia Memorial and St. Elias Hill. The itinerary is spread between the municipalities of Fogliano Redipuglia and Ronchi dei Legionari and follows the same frontline that can be observed in the Monfalcone Theme Park of the Great War and the Open-air Museum of Mt. San Michele.
Contested since the First Battle of the Isonzo, this area passed under the control of the Italian Army in October 1915 (Third Battle of the Isonzo), which turned it then into a first-aid centre and command. The following year, as the frontline moved east, the sinkhole was not included in the front anymore and could also accommodate a modest military hospital.

The open-air Museum can be easily reached by car after about two and a half kilometres on the road connecting Redipuglia to Doberdò del Lago (parking is signalled). Walking to the hilltop of Mt. Sei Busi (118 metres ASL), a number of entrenchments can be immediately noticed, followed, soon after, by the sinkhole of the 15th Marksmen Regiment. Inside, you can still admire the ruins of the small military hospital as well as traces of some barracks and the mass grave.
