Magnano in Riviera is a hillside town located in the morainic amphitheater of the Tagliamento River, nestled on the southern slope of the hill. The area is divided into various villages that preserve some characteristic rural buildings, such as in Billerio (Venchiaredo village and San Giacomo village). The medieval atmosphere is particularly evocative at the remains of the Prampero Castle or the Chapel of Santa Margherita. Strategically located along the main transit routes of ancient times, the area is rich in historical artefacts: the remains of a Roman road indicate that the town was a place of trade and an important stop for travelers to rest, while the Lombard remains found in the village of Longeriacco demonstrate its significance even at the end of the 7th century.
