The
Bosco Romagno, between
Cividale del Friuli and
Prepotto, is a true haven of biodiversity in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia. With its
woodland nature trails, it is the ideal place to spend a day outdoors, in all seasons.
The forest is made up of
black poplars, lime trees, chestnuts, maples and wild cherry trees, while there is a great variety of fauna:
roe deer, squirrels, dormice, foxes and badgers are often encountered along the paths.
The
Bosco Romagno is also one of the best places in Friuli Venezia Giulia for
birdwatching, in particular the
middle spotted woodpecker, a rare species that lives alongside other woodpeckers and birds of prey. Some sensitive areas have been fenced off to protect bird habitat.
Along the routes there are
information boards, a
hut for educational activities,
modern play structures for children and a
course with obstacles and tools of varying difficulty. There are numerous
picnic areas and
barbecue stations that can be used freely year-round, in compliance with safety regulations.
The park's symbolic elements include in particular a
booksharing bench made from an ancient felled cedar, uniting nature, culture, and memory.
