The
Bosco Brussa it is a beautiful
lowland forest and one of the last fragments of the ancient
Selva Lupanica, the woodland that in Roman times stretched between the rivers
Isonzo and Livenza.
This
treasure trove of biodiversity is the result of a reforestation project begun in 1985 and today is home to a complex and fascinating ecosystem, with
oak, hornbeam, ash, lime, wild cherry, hazelnut and field maple. The forest is dominated by
oak and
hornbeam groves, a habitat of great naturalistic importance.
The fauna is equally varied:
wild boar, roe deer, hares, badgers, foxes, but also numerous species of
birds of prey such as
buzzards, black kites, honey buzzards and various
woodpeckers. The wetlands are home to
common frogs, common toads, and other amphibian species, making the forest ideal for
birdwatchers and nature photographers.
The area is equipped with
picnic tables seating up to 60 people under a canopy,
water fountains, toilets, barbecue stations and a children's playground. The
shaded and open areas are designed to provide families and children with a relaxing and accessible environment.
Booking is required to visit Bosco Brussa and use the services offered. The area can be booked from April to September.
