Debellis Rural Village - Mill, and Valcalda
A small village of houses at the joining of the Cornappo stream and the Valcalda river. The locality is mentioned in 1211, under the jurisdiction of the Savorgnan family. The buildings in the village, restored after the 1976 earthquake, date back to the 18th-19th centuries and the early 20th century. Among the most significant buildings is the stone Debellis mill, set on one floor with its milling structures, bordered by a water channel and small waterfall, where the wooden wheel spindle and some bulkheads to regulate the water flow are visible. Further north was a hemp processing facility, with adjacent vats for soaking the plant from which textile fibers were obtained. In the center of the village is a small gabled chapel with a bell opening, dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In the Poiak area, in the 18th-19th centuries, there were the most important dairy farms in the area. To the west lies Valcalda, a wide valley stretching northwest/southeast for about two and a half kilometers, closed to the north by the ridge of Mount Celò (580 m), while to the south it is limited by alignment of the Pouiac (766 m) and Zuogna (806 m) mountains. The vegetation is composed of mixed broadleaved forest formations. The stream is lined with black alder, white willow, ash, and hazel.
