From Venzone, an ancient town that was razed by the 1976 earthquake and rebuilt as it was in the Middle Ages, the route heads south, reaching Gemona del Friuli, a picturesque medieval town with its castle, historic palaces, churches, and museums. From Gemona, you can follow the course of the Tagliamento river passing through Osoppo with its fortified hill, or descending to Buia, exploring the moraine hills with their medieval castles.
Arriving at Tavagnacco, you enter the Friulian high plain and take the cycle paths that lead to the Cormor stream park, located at the gates of Udine. Through the urban cycle paths, you reach the center of Udine, the capital of Friuli, rich in attractions such as historic palaces, churches, museums, and gardens with monumental trees.
If you want to change the route, Gemona is a crossroads of cycle paths, connecting the Alpe Adria cycle path and the Tagliamento river cycle path from north to south, and the Pedemontana cycle path from east to west, embracing the renowned wine regions of the Colli Orientali, Collio, and Friuli Grave.

To travel the Alpe Adria FVG 1 cycle path between Venzone and Udine, follow the direction from north to south, starting from Venzone and heading towards Gemona del Friuli. Continue following the signs along the Tagliamento river, passing through Osoppo and Buia to explore the moraine hills. Continue south through Tavagnacco until you reach the Cormor stream park at the gates of Udine. From there, follow the urban cycle paths to immerse yourself in the center of Udine, where you can appreciate the city's historical and cultural attractions.
