From Palmanova, descend towards Strassoldo, with its castles surrounded by parks and irrigation channels with clear resurgence waters. As you exit Cervignano there is a beautiful cycle path, built on an old railway track, that leads straight to Aquileia, which was a very important Roman settlement for the empire and later also a patriarchal seat and the centre of Christian evangelisation towards the East: don't miss the various historical sites that can be admired all around the town. The cycle path continues by crossing the lagoon, where scenic and sunny seascapes and island views lie in wait for cyclists pedalling towards Grado.
Eventually, you will arrive at the world-famous seaside resort, which is also an early medieval historical centre and preserves churches with works of art from the Byzantine period. In Grado, you will be offered a wide range of services for accommodation, catering, recreation and sport, but if you plan to arrive in summer, it is best to book everything well in advance!
One suggestion is to visit the wonderful Venetian villas dating from the 17th-19th centuries and Palmanova and Aquileia, UNESCO heritage cities.
