Long distance cycling
A pleasant bike ride that leads to the discovery of Lignano Sabbiadoro and its surroundings, following the waters of the Tagliamento and Stella rivers.
Route
The loop starts in Lignano Sabbiadoro, a well-known seaside resort near the mouth of the Tagliamento river. Following upstream the Tagliamento river, you cycle towards Latisana, a small town with Venetian atmospheres. At Precenicco, following the course of the Stella river almost to its mouth, you return to Lignano by following the bends of the river and some stretches of the lagoon.
The route includes crossing the bridge on the Venetian seaside road at Bevazzana, which is open to bicycles at certain times indicated in the DETAILS section.
Food & Wine
The route takes place in an area dotted with numerous wineries where you can stop to discover the DOC wines of Latisana. The area of Gorgo di Latisana is also the ideal place for cultivating White Asparagus, one of the excellences of Friuli Venezia Giulia, whose presence in the region dates back to the Austro-Hungarian era.

Mixed route, predominantly paved, on secondary roads without traffic and on bike paths.
Overall negligible elevation change, completely flat and little shaded route. In the summer months the route can be shortened thanks to the Latisana-Lignano Bicibus service. The route includes crossing the bridge on the Venetian seaside road at Bevazzana open to bicycles at the following times:
Spring (from March 1 to April 30): 8-10 / 13-15 / 17-19
Summer (from May 1 to September 15): 8-10 / 13-14 / 18-19
Autumn (from September 16 to November 15): 8-10 / 13-15 / 18-19
Winter (from November 16 to February 28): 8-10 / 13-15 / 18-19

From Lignano Sabbiadoro, proceed west along the city bike paths until reaching Lignano Riviera. Continue towards Bevazzana, follow signs for Pertegada - Gorgo - Latisana. From Latisana follow the route to Percenicco and return to Lignano Sabbiadoro via Aprilia Marittima.
Public-transport-friendly
Daily Bicibus service in July and August from Udine to Lignano Sabbiadoro with stops at Muzzana del Turgnano and Latisana.
From Latisana railway station, follow the Tagliamento Cycle Route (FVG6).
