Cycling through the mountains of the Carnic Pre-Alps, among breathtaking landscapes and enchanting villages. Nature and beauty at every turn.
The route begins in Tolmezzo and runs between the right-hand valleys of the Tagliamento River. Having traveled along the bike path that leads to Villa Santina along the Tagliamento, it continues on side roads free of vehicular traffic toward Enemonzo, a locality where the cheese of the same name is produced. After crossing the Tagliamento, you reach Preone(discover other bike routes in Preone), a locality from where you can take the route to discover the Arzino Waterfalls, and where the ascent to the Sella Chiampon (alt. m 790) begins. The road enters the woods of the valley of the Seazza stream and you pedal until you reach a grassy plateau with scattered mountain houses, mountain huts and barns. The trail continues slightly downhill past the headwaters of the Arzino stream. Before returning to Tolmezzo, you pass through Verzegnis, where you will find the lake of the same name, a turquoise interlude between the forests of the Pre-Alps, an ideal place to relax after the strenuous ride.
