The Adriatic Sea Cycleway runs from Trieste to Lignano Sabbiadoro and is the section of the Adriabike (Trieste-Venice) and EuroVelo8 in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The route is divided into the stages Venice - Caorle - Lignano Sabbiadoro - Grado and Trieste. In Lignano one arrives after crossing the bridge over the Tagliamento River at Bevazzana. Here begins a route that touches the main seaside resorts of Friuli Venezia Giulia, crosses the Friulian plain, the protected nature reserves rich in fauna and flora of the lagoon until reaching the Karst. You pedal through the seaside towns of Marano Lagunare, Grado and Duino. From Cervignano del Friuli you take the Alpe Adria cycle route through the UNESCO site of Aquileia. At Sistiana you glimpse the Falesie di Duino and reach Trieste accompanied by a splendid view of its Gulf. In the summer Bibione and Lignano are connected by the boat pass on the Tagliamento River while the seaside resorts of Lignano, Marano Lagunare, Grado, Monfalcone, Sistiana, Grignano and Trieste are connected by bike-boat services. It is recommended to see itinerary C2V1.

From Lignano to Monfalcone, work is being done on the original bike route. An alternative route using a section of the Tagliamento River cycleway can be found on this sheet. The work is scheduled to end on 06/30/2026.

From May 6 to 8, 2026, the section of the FVG2 Adriatic Sea cycleway from the Punta Barene location to the Alberoni location will be closed for mowing work. The detour is marked on site.

The route runs on sections of bicycle path and mixed-use road. Take special care when there is traffic on the Coastal Road (SR14) and other mixed-use roads.

Tips and suggestions

During the summer in the areas of Lignano, Grado, Monfalcone, Sistiana and along the coastal road to Trieste there is a lot of traffic of bathers heading to the beaches. For those who wish, there are bike+boat services.

Roadbook

From Venice follow for Jesolo, Caorle and Bibione and embark for Lignano Sabbiadoro. From Lignano continue to Marano Lagunare, Aquileia, Grado, Monfalcone and then Trieste.

In Lignano Sabbiadoro, after a few days of rest on the beach, you may decide to change your itinerary and cycle north along the Tagliamento River cycle route (FVG6)

- FVG6 to reach San Vito al Tagliamento, Spilimbergo and Tolmezzo along the right bank of the river (Code C600).

- FVG 6/a to reach Codroipo, San Daniele del Friuli and Tolmezzo along the left bank of the river (Code C6VA).

In Grado, after a few days of rest at the beach, you may decide to change your route and ride north along the Alpe Adria cycle route (FVG1)

- FVG1 to reach Udine, Venzone and Tarvisio via Aquileia, Palmanova, Gemona del Friuli and Pontebba (Code C100).
