The route starts in Aquileia, crosses the countryside of Terzo di Aquileia and runs along the Grado lagoon. An itinerary immersed between the vineyards and the lagoon!
Food & wine
You will be cycling in the Friuli-Aquileia DOC wine production area, where Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso stands out, a ruby red wine, intense and fine on the nose with floral, fruity and spicy scents, dry and soft on the palate, all to be discovered! A wine that goes very well with the dishes offered in the area's agritourisms and trattorias.
RECOMMENDED DISH: gnocchi with duck sauce
Itinerary
The itinerary winds mainly through the countryside of the Friulian lowlands and leads to the lagoon at the Idrovora and Marina di Salmastro. Here it is pleasant to ride your bike amidst the greenery, the waters of the canals and the sounds of nature. The village of San Martino is the place for a short stop to admire the valuable frescoes inside the Church of San Martino Vescovo. Every year, the village hosts the historic 'Pumpkin Festival' with music, exhibitions and traditional pumpkin dishes.
The route is suitable for families with children aged 10 years and older.
