The route starts from Aquileia, crosses the countryside of Terzo di Aquileia and runs along the Grado lagoon. An itinerary surrounded by vineyards and the lagoon!
Itinerary
The route runs mainly through the countryside of the Friulian lowlands. It starts from Aquileia and pedals towards the village of San Martino and Terzo d'Aquileia, until it reaches the lagoon near the water-scooping machine and the Marina di Salmastro. Here it is pleasant to be on the bike, amidst the greenery, the waters of the canals and the sounds of nature. When you reach the village of San Martino, you can admire the fine frescoes inside the Church of San Martino Vescovo. The village hosts the historic "Pumpkin Festival" every year with musical intrettenimants, exhibitions and traditional pumpkin dishes.
Food & wine
You will cycle in the production area of Friuli-Aquileia DOC wines where Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso excels, a ruby red wine, intense and fine on the nose with floral, fruity and spicy scents, dry and soft on the palate, all to be discovered! A wine that goes very well with the dishes offered in the agritourisms and trattorias of the area.
RECOMMENDED DISH: gnocchi with duck sauce.
