Itinerary
The route connects Gemona, with its medieval old town, to Venzone, a 14th-century fortified village and among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. It follows the Alpe Adria cycle route to Venzone, crosses the Tagliamento River and descends to Bordano, known for its murals dedicated to butterflies and the House of Butterflies, which can be visited in summer. You return to Gemona via Braulins and cross the river again.

Food & wine
A typical bread from Gemona is pan di sorc, a Slow Food presidium, is a sweet and spicy bread made from dimais cinquantino flour, rye and wheat, with the addition of dried figs, raisins and fennel seeds.

Public-transport-friendly
Intermodal transport with the bicycle in tow: The Pedemontana cycle route is served by intermodal transport, both by train and bus.
Regional trains (Trenitalia) can transport bicycles along the Gorizia to Sacile route (Trieste - Udine - Venice line) and from Sacile to Maniago.
The MICOTRA train is a special international, intermodal convoy between Udine and Villach (A) with a stop in Gemona del Friuli and can carry more than 70 bicycles in special wagons. It makes two round trips a day and in summer extends its route to Gorizia and Trieste.
In summer there is the BiciBus service, a coach with a closed trolley for 40 bicycles in tow: Maniago to Gemona del Friuli with stops in Meduno, Travesio, Pinzano al Tagliamento, Osoppo and San Daniele del Friuli.
