An itinerary where the scent of the lagoon meets that of the countryside.
Food & wine
The sandy soil of the Fossalon di Grado area is the ideal place for growingwhite asparagus. Every year, in April, the Fossalon asparagus festival is held, one of the most eagerly awaited gastronomic events in the area. Fiumicello, on the other hand, is famous for its peaches; in fact, the much-awaited regional peach exhibition is held here every year.
Typical dish: Risotto with asparagus and piarsolada.
Itinerary:
From Grado you cycle along the town cycle path in an easterly direction until you reach the hamlet of Primero. This area is characterised by the lagoon landscape while the bell tower of the Barbana Sanctuary stands out among the surrounding islets. At Fossalon di Grado, the route crosses the 'Valle Cavanata' nature reserve, then pedals to Punta Sdobba, a small fishing village where the view opens onto the Gulf of Trieste. We continue through the countryside of Fiumicello until we reach Aquileia. From here you return to Grado along the cycle track.
