Medium-difficulty loop hike to the Tornidor Spring, of rare geological particularity, and Mt. Cjastelat where you can enjoy spectacular views.
Depart from the Piancavallo Infopoint and turn left onto Via Barcis to Hotel 1301 Inn. Near the hotel take the service road that runs alongside the soccer fields and continue to the Casera Capovilla. Take the Sorgente del Tornidor CAI 925 trail following the red-and-white markings. When you reach the spring, continue to the right going up towards the PiancavaIIo-Barcis road. The trail crosses a rare geological feature: the Tornidor conglomerate, above which the Tornidor spring gushes out. Skirt the Pian delle More reservoir and continue downhill along the road for about two hundred meters.
Take the second forest road on the right, CAI table 971 . The trail, cool in summer and bright in winter, goes up the beech forest until it reaches a wide space at the junction of CAI trails 915 and 985. On the way up a forest road interrupts the trail; pay close attention to the red-and-white markings on the left. Take the moderately sloping CAI 915 trail, crossing a beautifully intact area frequented by roe deer, deer, the black grouse and the black grouse.
A vast, breathtaking panorama can be admired from the top of Mount Cjastelat. Rejoin CAI path 915 and continue toward Pala Fontana. After an initial stretch inside the beech forest, you reach the ridge that joins CjasteIat to Pala Fontana. From Pala Fontana begin the descent that meets CAI path 988 near Forcella di Giais. Turn right and continue to the junction with CAI 985. Take path CAI 985 to the left in the direction of Casera Caseratte. After a slight ascent the trail continues, in a pleasant descent, to the casera. When you reach Casera Caseratte, follow the red-and-white signs for the Passeggiata delle Malghe. In a short time, the large sinkhole can be seen again. Cross the forestry road and resume the initial trail to Via Collalto and finally to the starting point.
