A truly interesting trail that guides visitors from the foothills of the Karst ridge towards one of the most emblematic symbols of Trieste: Miramare Castle. Following a well-marked route, which begins at a charming forest with a medium-sized pond, you will cross vineyards, outdoor rural stairways, ancient fountains, the characteristic "pastini" (agricultural terraces), and descend for about 250 metres, surrounded by nature and a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Trieste, to reach the charming railway station of Miramare, built in the second half of the 19th century to connect Vienna with Trieste, and then on to Grignano, up to the entrance of the Castle. Several benches, tables and running fountains made of stone are located along the route.
Author’s recommendation
With a difference in altitude of about 250 metres, the route is easy if you travel towards Grignano, but more challenging if you travel in the opposite direction.
