Tolmezzo: Museo Carnico delle Arti Popolari Michele Gortani
If you think about a museum full of history and articles of inestimable value, Tolmezzo is not the first town to come to mind. Well today, together with my cameraman Noemi, I want to show you the Museo Carnico delle Arti Popolari Michele Gortani, in the seventeenth-century Palazzo Campeis in Tolmezzo.
The museum boasts rarities typical of the Carnic area, dating back to a period of time ranging from 1300 to 1800. The collections are shown in 30 rooms, which reconstruct a series of domestic and work spaces: kitchen, bedrooms, small dining room, the workshops of a craftsman working copper and brass, of a weaver and of a carpenter.
We can find everyday objects belonging to the local people and reconstructions of the places where they lived and worked. And I have not told you yet that the Carnic museum is one of the richest ethnographic museums in Europe. At this point there are no excuses: Tolmezzo is waiting for you!
