Loop Through the Villas and Villages of Rural Friuli (R070)

From Codroipo, cycle toward the Tagliamento River in the direction of Camino al Tagliamento, passing through the small villages of Gradiscutta and Santa Marizza—with their authentic charm—and past the numerous 18th-century villas scattered across the plain that have inspired poets and writers. You’ll pass through the towns of Varmo and Rivignano before reaching the village of Flambruzzo with its castle and Ariis with the Ottelio Savorgnan Villa, surrounded by water and the “Stella Municipal Park,” hometo the Ariis Aquarium, which features fish species native to Friuli-Venezia Giulia. You’ll continue cycling through the Friulian countryside, passing through Flumignano and Talmassons, home to the astronomical observatory. You’ll proceed toward Flambro, with its spontaneous architecture typical of farming villages and the Braida mill, and on to Bertiolo until you reach the majestic Villa Manin, whose architectural design is sure to leave you speechless. We recommend stopping to visit the villa, the carriage collection, and the monumental park.
