Mineralogy and Petrography Museum


The Mineralogy and Petrography Museum is part of the Geosciences' Department of Trieste University and reffers to the University Museum System SMATs.

Constituted back in 1949, it exhibits approximately 1500 samples of minerals and rocks from all over the world which are organised with thematic and educational criteria with popular intent.

Two halls are devoted to minerals and one to rocks. It is also possible to see typical minerals from the "Tre Venezie" area as well as various forms that can be seen in Trieste's Karst.

Annexed to the museum is an audiovisual hall, a scientific laboratory, an archive, educational halls and a reading room.
