The Bordano Butterfly House is the largest exhibition of live butterflies and insects in Italy. The facility includes three climate-controlled greenhouses that recreate the environments of the rainforests of the Amazon and Central America, Asia, and Africa, as well as a series of exhibitions, entomological displays, and a Butterfly and Moth Museum.
Inside the greenhouses, rainforest settings host tropical butterflies that fly freely among visitors, offering them a unique experience along an immersive route that engages sight, smell, hearing, as well as the mind and the heart.
Alongside the butterflies live other small animals such as Hercules beetles, leaf insects, stick insects, flower mantises, giant millipedes, colorful forest crabs, large snails, ants, and many more. These spectacular and highly fascinating creatures always attract great interest from the public. They are consistent with the recreated natural environments and represent significant cultural value, while also providing visitors with a truly unique experience.
The visit also includes a multimedia section featuring documentaries filmed in tropical countries that illustrate the butterfly life cycle, as well as a rich museum area. Outside, visitors can explore PolliNation, the Pollinators’ Garden: a sensory botanical trail that tells the story of the relationship between pollinating insects and flowers, while highlighting local biodiversity.
