Povoletto
The north side of the territory lies on fertile hills and it enters among the watercourses stretching - southwards - into the flat, till the point when it reaches the shingle bed of the River Torre.
During the centuries, the history and the economical life of this area have been bound to the matters of this river.
Just think, that the loss of the Monastery of Salt was caused by a flash flood of the river itself.
It seems that the name Povoletto derives from "pabuletum" (pasture) or "populetum (poplar tree); in fact, in the town council's coat of arms there are depicted three poplars.
