Faedis
Faedis
The chief town, whose name derives from "fagetum" (beech forest), is of ancient origin, having been mentioned around the year 1000.
Faedis, situated in a green area, amazes its visitors with its ancient medieval charm. On foot, along marked trails in the woods, you can reach the castles of Zucco and of Cuccagna.
The fourteenth-century Church of the Madonna in Castello is definitely worth a visit: in the quiet of the valley you will have the chance to admire the fresco of the Madonna Lactans (Our Lady of the Milk).
Leaving from the hamlet of Sant'Anastasia, you can follow many panoramic routes among the valleys and the castles, until reaching the shepherd's huts.
Today it is a famous wine producing area, whose leading product is Refosco: an ancient grape variety of a deep ruby colour and with a fruity taste. Many wineries are available for visits and tasting.
