Capriva del Friuli
Capriva del Friuli, whose toponym may derive from the Slovenian word kopriva (nettle), or from the Latin caput ripae, is a small town of ancient origin: in fact, various archaeological finds found in the surroundings are evidence of the existence of a large settlement in the Roman age.
On the hill of Spessa there is a castle with Italian-style gardens, enlarged in the nineteenth century, whereas the Russiz Superiore hill features a white Windsor-style castle.
On the Russiz Inferiore hill one can see the vineyards that make this area famous for the production of high-quality wines.
Those who love history, besides the above-mentioned castles, will also find a sixteenth-century small church and a parish church with some interesting paintings of the last century.
