Caneva
The municipality of Caneva comprises the hamlets of Fiaschetti, Fratta, Sarone, Stevenà and the localities of Crosetta del Cansiglio, Gaiardin, Lame de Carpen, Malconsei, Pradego and Tamburz.
The area of Caneva, important from an archaeological point of view, is rich in finds that are probably referable to the pile-dwelling Neolithic age of Palù di Livenza (among the most important in northern Italy and UNESCO World Heritage Site), to the large settlement of the Bronze and Iron Ages on the slopes of Col Castelir, to the Paleo-Venetian finds of Stevenà, Pradego, Villa, up to the Lombard tombs of Stevenà.
A land of ancient wines (above all Marzemino) and the starting point for pleasant hikes in the mountain woods, Caneva can boast the picturesque ruins of the castle built around the year 1000, probably on Roman foundations.
In fact, Caneva looks like a castle town - an almost unique case in this area - which made up the ancient Canipa (abandoned in the 17th century and overwhelmed by scrub).
Besides the several festivals, among which the Castle Festival (on the first Sunday of July), we would like to mention the Sport Museum, with sports mementos, in particular linked to cycling.
