Arta Terme
History, wellness and gastronomy
At 442 metres above sea level, Arte Terme is a valued thermal spa with a modern wellness center that makes the most of the beneficial effects of the waters from Pudia spring, previously well-known in Roman times. It is an ideal location to spend regenerating wellness-holidays and is a great starting point for splendid excursions through shepherd’s huts and shelters too.
Arta Terme unites the beauty of the mountains with the advantages of the low altitude and offers a holiday of wellness and the best Friulan gastronomic tradition. In the region’s small shops you can purchase honeys, cheeses, typical Carnian cjarsòns and plum and pear distillates.
The hamlet of Piano d'Arta offers attractions that are definitely worth visiting, such as the parish church featuring its unique octagonal shape, the thirteenth-century church of San Nicolò of Alzeri and the church Santo Spirito a Chiusini, embellished with frescoes from the 15th century.
