Descending along the trail departing from the esplanade in front of the Museum of the Great War, you can visit a cave at the foothills of Height 3. This karstic cavity was named after General Lukachich during the Great War, homage to the Commander of the10th Honved Infantry Division, the national Hungarian Army, who fought here until 1917.
To access this cave, walk to the memorial stone commemorating the Ferrara Brigade and reach the remnants of an Austro-Hungarian trench. Here, you can notice several man-made openings and tunnels dug in the mountain, which worked as shelters during the Italian bombing.
After a few dozen metres, on the right, you can see the exit of the large cave used by Commander Lukachich as an advanced command post. This cavity served also as a passageway to the front lines, allowing thus for rapid replacement of soldiers on the front line. The back entrance can be found about fifty metres ahead.
