Walking through San Vito al Tagliamento, you immerse yourself in the varied context of the town, alternating along the 9.1 km route between the atmosphere conveyed by the historic buildings of the center and rural settings, interesting from a naturalistic point of view and also a memory of a peasant civilization always present in the social fabric.
Starting from the central Piazza del Popolo, in its first part, the route unfolds along some streets of the center. Passing under the historic Torre Raimonda, you follow via Amalteo, passing by the church of San Lorenzo and the adjoining Dominican convent, then cross the bridge called della Saetta from which you can admire, to the right, the old Napoleonic prisons. Using the rich network of cycle-pedestrian paths, it is possible to safely cross what can be considered the “health hub,” where the Health District, the Hospital, IRCCS “E.Medea - La Nostra famiglia,” the Mental Health Center, and the Retirement Home are located. Always along protected paths, passing through beautiful residential areas, you reach the Ligugnana school and sports hub, then arrive at Madonna di Rosa, near the well-known Sanctuary. From here, along via dei Cipressi, you reach Sant’Urbano, a triumph of vineyards and other crops, then reach, via comfortable field roads, the villa of Casabianca and the shrine of San Giuseppe in Boreanona. The cycle-pedestrian paths are equipped with benches. Once you arrive in the residential area of Favria, north of the railway, it is possible to return to the center by entering Parco Rota, near the old anti-aircraft bunker, then exit again into Piazza del Popolo next to the Municipal Palace.
