xhibition "India. Two Views, One Story"

Description

As part of the Trieste Photo Days Festival, the exhibition "India. Two Views, One Story" opens on Friday, October 24, at 10:00 a.m. Adriano Perini's photographs, held in the Photo Library of the Civic Museums of History and Art, dialogue with the testimonies of Sandro Antoniolli. Two authors, two sensibilities, two distinct ways of narrating the same place: India, captured between architectural space and everyday life, silence and noise, absence and presence.
The exhibition, curated by Claudia Colecchia, head of the Photo Library of the Civic Museums of History and Art, in collaboration with Francesca Avignone, curator of the Civic Museum of Oriental Art, builds a dialogue between Western visions that confront otherness, offering the public not only a journey through images, but a reflection on the very act of seeing, of approaching, and of representing.
In the first section, photographer Adriano Perini, a keen traveler and former president of the Photo-Imago association, whose archive is now held at the Photo Library of the Civic Museums of History and Art, leads the viewer into an India of suspended architecture and atmospheres, with a particular focus on Rajasthan. His gaze focuses on form, constructed space, and the balance between light and structure. The human presence, always discreet, often feminine, is rarely central: the human being is perceived as an integral part of the landscape, not its protagonist. The original positives, medium format and refined chemical printing, reflect a meditative approach. The images evoke a dilated, almost metaphysical time, in which every visual element seems suspended in expectation. Already exhibited in Italy and abroad, these shots retain their evocative power intact. In dialogue/contrast, the photographs of Sandro Antoniolli, winner of the call promoted by Stefano Ambroset, president of the dotART Association, propose a more material, relational, and immersive India. His shots convey the vitality of lived-in places: bodies, gestures, animals, markets, and architecture as a pulsating, traversed, and inhabited context.

The exhibition invites visitors to engage in dialogue with the images: to read between the folds of the visible, to be questioned by the silent exchange between the viewer and the viewed.

The exhibition, with free admission, will be open until November 26th on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
