The Echo of Swords: Historical Fencing at Muggia Castle

Description

In collaboration with ASD Trieste Scherma Storica, on Sunday 13th September 2026 the Castle will host spectacular demonstrations tracing the evolution of fencing from the Middle Ages to the Risorgimento.
Adults and children alike will be able to experience history first-hand thanks to introductory historical fencing sessions for adults and creative workshops for younger visitors.

Programme

Doors open at 9.30 am;
10 am to 12 noon: medieval fencing tournament (Historical European Martial Arts – HEMA);
2 pm to 3.30 pm: introductory session on historical fencing for adults. BOOKING ESSENTIAL;
from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm: ‘CASTLES AND KNIGHTS’: workshop for children (and parents);
from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm: Risorgimento-era fencing tournament (HEMA);
closing at 6.30 pm.

Please note: Both the 9.30 am and 2.00 pm tickets allow you to take part in the children’s workshops and the workshop, subject to availability.

During the event, the interior of the castle will be open to visitors for an additional fee of 5 euros, payable at the entrance.
