Description
Frank Zappa meets cabaret: surf sounds and metal riffs travel on the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, while Shakespeare, Brecht, and Monty Python serve as ideal godfathers.
KUHN FU is a psychedelic jazz-rock band led by guitarist and composer Christian Kühn, the man who moves like a rat on stage. Accused of schizophrenia by the jazz press, he wages a constant battle against “the invisible wall of jazz,” without giving up his flirtation with Duke Ellington, Shostakovich, rock ‘n’ roll, and his red Telecaster. He lives and works in Berlin, personally managing all the affairs and various formations of his magical ensemble.
Originally formed as a quartet, KUHN FU now exists in various formations, from quartet to sextet, octet, and nonet. The main members are Christian Kühn (guitar), Ziv Taubenfeld (bass clarinet), Esat Ekincioglu (bass), and George Hadow (drums). Since 2021, the band has expanded to include musicians such as John Dikeman (tenor saxophone), Sofia Salvo (baritone saxophone), Frank Gratkowski (alto saxophone, clarinet, flute), and Tobias Delius (tenor saxophone, clarinet), who often alternate both in the studio and in live performances and tours around Europe.
